Application FormIf a member of our Human Resources team contacts you to schedule an interview for one of our open positions, here are some suggestions that should help you prepare, whether you are interviewing over the phone or in person.

  • Do your research. Take time to explore our website to learn about us. The time we spend together initially should focus primarily on you, not on us. If you do your homework on our company before we meet, we can keep the focus on you.

  • Have some questions for us. We like our first meeting with you to be interactive. Before our meeting, prepare some questions about the company or about the position that you are interviewing for and present those questions during your interview.

  • Prepare to have a conversation about how you meet or exceed the technical requirements of the position and about what “softer skills” you bring to the position, such as your oral and written communications skills, your commitment to working well with others, taking responsibility for your work assignments and your reliability.

  • If you interview in person, please dress professionally. Some of our employees work in locations where casual dress is permitted. And, most of our work locations participate in casual Fridays and business casual is the norm during the work week. However, your most appropriate choice for our first meeting is business attire.

  • Many of our positions require that you obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance. Our Facility Security Officer will work through the process with you if you are selected to fill a position with a clearance requirement.

  • Arcata supports a drug free environment. If you accept an employment offer with Arcata, you must successfully complete pre-employment drug testing prior to beginning employment with us.

  • Federal law requires all employers to verify the identity and employment eligibility of all persons hired to work in the United States. To comply with this law, Arcata participates in the E-Verify program. Within three days of your first day of employment with Arcata, we will provide information to the Department of Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration to confirm your work authorization.

  • Employment InterviewSuccessful completion of a background investigation is also a condition of your employment with Arcata. This investigation includes information concerning your past employment, your formal education and criminal background reports.

  • Everyone invited to interview with Arcata is asked to complete an employment application form. Prior to the interview, your Human Resources Representative will e-mail or fax the application to you. Please complete the application and return it to Human Resources prior to your interview.

  • Depending on the position you are interviewing for, testing may be part of our first meeting. All positions require a cognitive aptitude computer-based test that gives a general indication of your ability to think quickly, solve problems and your ability to understand new tasks.

For management positions, you will complete a computer-based Management Development Questionnaire that reflects your self-assessment across five management competencies: Managing Change, Planning and Organization, Interpersonal Skills, Results Orientation and Leadership.

For some positions, completing tests of your Microsoft Office skills, writing skills, or database management skills may be part of your interview.

Test results are only one factor that we evaluate when making hiring decisions. Of equal importance is your past work experience, your formal education, your interpersonal skills and your ability to answer technical questions during your interview.
